Things have been a little crazy the past week so there has been a lack of updates. Today I'm technically working but things are really slow so I've been lurking around on Look Book... my god everyone is so freak'n good looking on that site!

I have decided this summer I am crazy about the color blue, maybe because it reminds me of the water and all I care about this year is spending as much time by the pool, beach and hopefully a lake or river. I don't personally own much of anything that's blue but I'll work it out.

I scored at the sample sale today!... I really only went in hopes to get one of Dear Creatures sailor blouses but unfortunately she was out of stock of the particular one I wanted, I did manage to get a similar style and two other great pieces from her Fall '08 collection.

The only other designer at the sale I liked was Wow & Flutter, great quality clothing and the perfect wear to work basics for me.

Last night I had a dream that a fire started on an electrical something or other that I was building or fixing, the exact details of my dream have become fuzzy now that I am awake and moving about, but in the dream I was running around screaming why don't I have a fire extinguisher?!

The point of this post is early this morning I was browsing my favorite lifestyle site and they mentioned this French company called Fire Design who makes these fancy little fire extinguishers. Now is that not a huge sign or what?... this is not a joke I really had the dream, woke up thought "wow I really don't have one in the apt", then saw these... weird.

This design is my favorite out of the collection, it also comes in fire engine red and chrome... awesome.

My favorite item from American Apparel is the Sexuali-Tee and Sexuali-Tank, I own four of each in White and Black sooo I own 16 pieces... noooo I'm not obessed! mmmm okay maybe I am. I think I just like it because of the name... when I can't find one of mine I like screaming "Where's my SexualiTee!"

Now last week I was browsing Urban Outfitters online, not really sure what I was looking for maybe just any cute basics when I noticed the clothing line BDG has their own version of the "Sexuali-Tee" but called "Cowl Neck Tee" so of course because it's on sale for only $14.99! I bought one so I could to a comparison.

They are basically the same, now I am torn which brand do I like better?

BDG fits like and actual woman's size T-shirt should and it's half the price of American Apparel. The actual cut and hem around the neck line is a little "wonky" but maybe I just got a bad one OR thats how they thought you get the baggy/stretched out look. Buy one here: Urban.com

When I purposely shrink my American Apparel Sexuali-Tee I like the box shape it creates, although it's still a little too big on me. I do like that you can wear it as a dress. Buy one here: A.A.com

If I had to choose? I would say go for the BDG version it's a better fit and half the price but I'm sure only for a limited time, that's one of the only good things about AA is their shit is always available.

It must be the gloomy weather here in Los Angeles that has got me thinking about buying a new umbrella. I must say someone has answered my prayers with the Polite Umbrella! I am seriously super paranoid about getting poked in the eye by an umbrella as I am sure many other people are... but now I can be sure to not poke other peoples eyes out as well as fully shielding my face from other possible dangerous umbrellas being carried by careless people.

Now if only CHANEL would jump on this idea and brand the shit out of it, everyone will want one then.

Basics are a crucial part of every wardrobe. We all have that one amazing t-shirt that fits just right or that one perfect tank that works with everything you put it under. You know your go-to shirt to throw on to go get a cup of coffee, or that looks great styled under a sport coat for a night out. Below are a few of my current basic essentials from Alternative Apparel that are getting me through the steamy days and steamier nights in Los Angeles.

The first piece pictured is the Gym Rat Eco-Fleece Raglan. I love this shirt and have been living in it as of late. It's a killer staple because it can be worn on its own, or paired with a short sleeved button up for a preppy yet casual warm weather look. Personally, I like to cuff up the sleeves and wear it with one of the Burnout shirts also pictured. Pair with some tailored shorts and high-top Vans to complete the look. Don't forget the vintage shades.

Also pictured is The Perfect Crew. You know what? The name delivers. The pima cotton is super soft and hangs like an expensive T, but doesn't break the bank at $35. I really dig the black, it looks great under a blazer or on it's own.

I undoubtedly adore musician Natasha Khan aka Bat for Lashes. She is a huge style inspiration, if I ever caught wind of her holding a yard sale I would book a flight to London ASAP just to be able to rummage through her stuff.

My love for her started a few years back when I saw a brilliant music video for her single "What's a Girl to Do". Now that she has a new album out I thought I would pull up some of my favorite photos of her personal style...

First came the CHANEL Bike, I would definitely ride this around...

...then very recently the CHANEL "Personal Transporter" made a debut at Cannes this year by actress Diane Kruger.

Segways crack me up I remember when they were once called the "transportation of the future", yet the only people I see driving them are security guards. I wonder if any CHANEL retail locations will have their security using these?

Now the CHANEL Concept Car has arrived! Designed by Jinyoung Jo a Korean car designer, The design of the car was "centered on simplicity of lines" and has a classic black and white color scheme to "follow in tradition with Coco Chanel's tailored suits".

Honestly I don't like it one bit, I would think a CHANEL branded car would be classic looking like a Rolls Royce. I wonder what Karl thinks of the car...

Vices for the Vain

As a new resident of Los Angeles, I thought Vice and Vanity was a perfect fit for my initial blog post as I settle into my new city, as LA has garnered a reputation of both feeding vices and housing the vain.

This instantly recognizable line out of the Joo Chiat area of Singapore gives a new meaning to the term "statement jewelry." The pieces are architectural, yet cartoonish, sophisticated, yet playful, and for the fashionati, ultimately and decidedly vice-worthy.

Came across this photo of Jessica Biel for the next issue of Allure magazine. I'm not a fan of Jessica's, I actually think she's a boring actress and have yet to see her in anything where I didn't wish she would get off the screen. Easy Virtue is her next film to hit theaters this week, the story line sounds pretty good and it takes place in my favorite era... lets just hope her acting has improved to where she can carry the lead role.

I can really appreciate when people make new out of old, doesn't matter what it is. I was staying with a friend on my most recent trip to NY and came home to find him making an amazing bench out of everything he found or "trash" but everything was in great condition like brand new wood, cardboard tubing, nails everything he found on the streets and the bench worked we both sat on it comfortably.

I'm really dig'n the first Jacket... and those black heals.

Speaking of Gwen it looks like she and the boys from No Doubt will be making an appearance on the Gossip Girl spin off as a fictional 80's band called "Snowed Out". Which is a bummer because I loved Gwen's cartoonish Disney Land character inspired style waaay back in the day when No Doubt were little young ones, it would have been nice to see that style in the show... but it makes sense since the time frame of the G.G. spin off wouldn't match up to when No Doubt was playing their first shows.

I don't think her wardrobe for the show is very "80's" but then again I haven't seen the episode, maybe it works somehow.

Here is a video of a young Gwen repairing her costume with a glue gun before a gig. It's so cute at one point the interviewer asks if she make clothes for other people and she says "No Way! I don't even have time"... ha ha. I have always loved Gwen I think she has been the longest standing style icon for me. I know some of her outfits and hair styles have been just outrageous but thats what's so great about her, she has the confidence to wear and do whatever she wants.

Smoking Everywhere

This post really isn't about fashion, or it could be but its mostly about smoking everywhere without the nasty effects of tobacco. I personally don't smoke cigarettes but a good friend of mine does and has been trying to quit and in hopes to do so she has started using the Smoking Everywhere electronic cigarette. The idea is its suppose to help ween her off of the real thing, kinda like the patch. Except unlike the patch you still exhale "smoke" because of the vaporizer, it's crazy how this thing works. I'm not really sure this will help since this allows her to "smoke" everywhere and still she smokes real cigarettes when we venture outside, because the strength of the electronic cigarette is not as powerful as puffing on the real thing.

I will say this device does help me, because when I was doing my friends make up on a recent photo shoot I didn't have to deal with real cigarette smoke being blown in my face. Maybe all models should start smoking these to spare the few who don't smoke (ha ha, the very few)... and it might help on the skin care products and teeth bleaching they spend money on to stay looking in tip top model shape. I was also doing make up on a video shoot yesterday and one of the actors was saying how nice it it to get his make up done by someone whose hands don't smell like cigarettes. Smoking really is a nasty addiction.

I absolutely adore Audrey Tautou and this new commercial for CHANEL. The wardrobe/styling is great, so is that hot guy who catches her interest.

I personally think Audrey is a much better "face" for the brand than Nicole Kidman was, not that I don't think Nicole is a beautiful woman. I guess I'm more partial to big doe eyes and dark hair... plus Audrey is actually french. I can't wait to see Audrey in "Coco avant Chanel".

I went to NYC last Thursday to do Make Up & Hair for a friends band who where shooting some press shots and the new album cover... Now the stylist that was hired for the shoot was no good when it came to "style" she ended up pulling really bad pieces for my friend who is the only girl in the band... everything was not her style and extremely unflattering.

Luckily my friend had recently met this designer in a movie theater bathroom and complimented her on her outfit asking where she got her clothes, the designer replied with "I make all my own clothes" ... so of course my friend asked if she would mind lending some pieces for the shoot.

So in walks this timid little girl named Rebecca Turbow carrying two garment bags full of the greatest skirts and dresses along with little black cropped jackets, just a great collection of pieces for my friend. Lets just say the stylist was not too happy that Rebecca walked in with pieces we all were going gaga over but if Rebecca didn't show up my poor friend would have had to wear the crap the stylist had.

In the end the shoot went well after a long battle with the stylist and the shitty job she was doing dressing everyone... I will say there was a lot of weird tension in the Make Up/ Wardrobe room all day because of that. I wish I could find images of all the pieces from Rebecca Turbow's new collection but the pieces she brought to the shoot were all new samples and sadly I lost the new Look Book she gave us.

Why gray?
I actually wore turquoise for eight years, but last September, I switched to gray. I’d had a bad year and needed to get out of it.

That’s a big switch.
I like everything to be clean, and gray is clean. Gray is between black and white, so it’s a noncolor, almost. I feel messy and unclean if I wear other colors.

Where do you shop?
I make all my own clothes. I can’t wear anyone else’s.

What about shoes?
That’s hard because even the soles of my shoes have to be gray or white. I get annoyed if the soles are black.

Do you ever miss turquoise?
When I was in turquoise, people would stare at me everywhere I went. It’s still the color of my clothing line, so my business cards and stickers are turquoise. But I’ve separated myself from it, so I’m separated from my work.

Is that a good thing?
Gray is refreshing. My boyfriend says it looks classy. Sometimes he’ll wear black, and I’ll wear silver. I like that; we match.

Does it bother you when other people wear mixed colors?
I like mixed colors on other people. I just can’t wear or make them. I work for the singer of Of Montreal, and he lets me make him wild, monochrome outfits.

Will you wear gray for the rest of your life?
My mom thinks I should branch out, but I can’t imagine that. I don’t know if it’s a condition; I’ve always wondered if there’s a name for it.

I have been obsessed with this site called Look Book, its such a great idea for finding style all over the world instead of relying on street bloggers to find it for you. I will say that the street bloggers find more expensive taste in high fashion cities but Look Book allows anyone to show it off in one place and you can vote on the "Hype" for your favorites.

WHAT IS HYPE?
Lookbook.nu users show their appreciation for styles they like by voting up, or adding "HYPE" points to their favorite looks. Along with how recently the look was posted, each vote helps to determine which looks are showcased on the HOT page—the more a look is hyped, the higher up it appears.

Here are a few of my favorites but seriously I really could post all day... so many on there, I suggest you take some time to look through the archives. Another plus is everyone is so good looking... so adorable, and I say adorable because the majority of the contributors are between the ages of 13-22. It's amazing how times have changed when I was 13 what to wear was the least of my worries.

Dear Creatures

A friend of mine told me that I might like this designer because I'm a huge fan of Jumpsuits/Rompers/Playsuits whatever YOU call it I love them. So I went to the site to check out the spring collection and I actually already know of Dear Creatures or at least have seen the clothes in various places.

I love the pieces although most of the styles are a little to cutesy/girlie for me to pull off, but that doesn't mean I don't like it on other people. Apparently Zooey Deschanel has been the best press for Dear Creatures, the actress has been seen wearing the clothes all over the place... movie press junkets, out and about town and already in two different commercials (I like the dress Zooey is wearing in the picture on the right). Regardless it looks like Dear Creatures is well on the path to a great and bright future.

Just a little taste of Marc by Marc swim (who doesn't love him?) I think the ruffle top two piece is always a cute idea but I'm not crazy about the ruffle bottoms, I would pair the top with a solid bottom. My personal favorite is the kissing fish one piece... mmmm okay okay and the shoulder bow one piece but I can't get away with wearing that.

Swim Won't

Ok time for me to be an asshole right now, maybe its the heat induced headache I've been dealing with all day but normally I try to keep my (negative) comments to myself.

With the weather starting to warm up I'm on the swim wear prowl and I stopped at 80's Purple for some browsing... now I'm not posting this because I like the swim wear, I would just like to take a minute and point out the photographer's horrible work here. The lighting in the photos is decent but look at the way he/she was posing the models! These girls are not bad looking but the angle of the shots and the poses just make the swim wear look unflattering... am I wrong? I think they need a re-shoot. I'm sorry but the last one just cracks me up, and you might notice a little "toe" action in the second to last one.

I've been a fan of Spring and Clifton for about five years, I still own some of the earlier knit work sweaters the designer/owner Michelle Zacks started her company off with. I don't think I'll ever get rid of the knit sweaters, they are timeless designs. Every trip I made to NY I would make sure to stop by Michelle's little boutique to snatch up any one of a kind sample she might have, sadly my trips to NY are few and far between these days.

For me the sleazeir the better but I always get a kick out of my guy friends and their insane handle bar moustache growth. Tom Sochs creations might mean that Prada is a shit box or that CHANEL is a tool for pain and destruction?... I have no clue I'm the worst at reading the hidden meaning in one's art. I just know I love it and think its amazing, and I plan to get the CHANEL chain saw tattooed on my little body somewhere. I've always wanted a CHANEL tattoo mostly because it's my last name but I never wanted the CoCo logo and I'm sure you can guess why... EVERYONE has that! I thought about just the name in bold but now that I have seen this... I can say "Fuck me gently with a (CHANEL) chain saw".

Selling: My Bike

Poor thing has never been used. So sad I know what a waste, she's a 56cm fixed speed with no breaks (thats why I don't ride her). Along with the bike I do have a mini tire pump that can straped on, a set of hand brakes and wire but I had ordered the wrong sized brake calliper so that's the real reason I never added the brakes. I want to sell her for what I paid which was $300 being that the bike is brand spanking new or give me your best offer. it's almost been a full month that I haven't eaten red meat or pork, I kept the chicken because if I cut all meat out right away I don't think I could have lasted this long. I'm not a big fan of chicken anyway so it might be easy but I guess I can only wait and see.

So cut the meat out... was in Vegas for a week... then came home four days later I found myself on a friends band's tour bus back to Vegas just for kicks... then flew back a day later.

So now I'm home and pretty sure I'm about to catch the dreaded flew that everyone had a few weeks ago. Great.

I do believe that "Nice Tom's" is LA's new pick up line... thats all I've been hearing from random cute boys... "Niiiice Tom's" or "I like your Tom's". So now that my new Tom's came in the mail today (they are so cute I love them) we'll see if the public likes them.

I LOVE this man.

so a german friend of mine... back in his mid 20's had just moved into a new apartment and didn't have much in it just yet, it was winter and the previous tenants had left behind their old space heater. My friend had a date with a girl that evening but had a few hours to kill till them so he wanted to read and keep warm by the heater. Two hours or so later he got up to go pick up his date and along the way to her house started feeling really weird, and his vision was getting a little blurry and by the time he reached her front door he completely lost his sight and went blind while he was trying to find her door buzzer. His date opened the door to find him freaking out and not able to see so she quickly took him to the emergency room where he was examined and bandaged up and his date took him back to his house... so much for a first date right?

I'll tell you why he lost he felt so weird and lost his sight... later.

Wade and I came up with a new reality show idea... putting Danica McKeller aka Winnie Cooper from The Wonder Years and Danielle Fishel aka Topanga from Boy Meets World two teen actors who quickly disappeared from Hollywood shortly after there "Savage Brothers" shows ended. They would be and interesting combo to have together... one who left to have a "normal life" and trying to re emerge but only to be in shitty B films and another actress who quit Hollywood to become a mathematician and write a book called "Math Doesn't Suck" or something like that. It could be funny right? or maybe not.

I HATE being sick.. seriously I think my immune system has failed me once again because I feel like shit. I though I was better but the last three days have gotten worse... and now as of yesterday I have moved on to a cough but the painful kind where you cough as softly as you can but it still fucking hurts.

I'm leaving for Berlin at six am tomorrow... I'm excited but not looking forward to the cold mostly because hmmm well I fel like shit and the last time I was there a few weeks ago I was sick. I'm only going to be there till friday or so then home... finally home. I get to sleep in my own bed and play with my pup and cuddle with my kitty and finish painting my room and drive my car.. thats the one thing that really makes me be happy to be home after a long trip is drive my own car. Oh shit I get to test out my driving gloves I just remembered that... awesome!

I'm going to have to pass on my crazy cat lady duties to someone else here because I still have one more full bag of treats, i'll see how much I can give out to the little babies out here. I swear I'm like the pied piper of the cats out here. Here are a few of my surrogate babies...

My home town is burning down. The castle is gone which will be a big loss for my viewing pleasure, I loved to look at it up on the hill. The fires came close to my place but no damage was done other than the patio seating melted. My heart goes out to those who lost their homes, its insane how quickly you can lose everything.

I can't believe a 2 week trip turned into three months. I'm not ready to go home but... well I can't stay here. Going home just won't be the same. Also I'm sick again but today is day two and I feel a lot better than yesterday. I hate not being able to breath properly.

I don't fell like writing anymore in fact I don't feel like doing much of anything these days I think I've lost my motivation for life.

I've been sneezing all day I hate being sick. This morning I slept at a friends apartment while he's away... damn fool doesn't have blinds or curtains so I woke up practically sunbathing is was so sunny and hot in his room.. or maybe it was just a fever.

While scoping out the vintage store competition I found my driving gloves I've been searching for, although these aren't my perfect dream driving gloves but they will do for now... can't wait to drive my car to test these babies out. No more LA sun cancer for my hands! Yes I am a grandma.
